The world-renowned Waldorf-Astoria Hotel has epitomized the quintessential luxury hotel experience for over 100 years.
The extraordinary, windowless, block-through lobby, with its dark panels of Oregon maple creates a hidden Expressionist grotto. In 1982, the $150 million restoration of The Waldorf-Astoria uncovered an astounding cache of magnificent Art Deco mosaics, murals, and other masterpieces. These discoveries, which had been covered by post-war "modernization" features for nearly three decades, caused the hotel to become recognized as a living museum of the Art Deco period.
Its fabled Starlight Roof - the three-story ballroom in which Guy Lombardo officially ushered in the New Year for decades - was the largest in the world when it was built, and it continues to delight patrons with its history, grandeur, and fabulous views of New York City.
